In this workshop, we will be creating macrame weavings on a simple frame loom with Los Angeles based maker/designer Jo Abellera of KKIBO. Students will learn the basics of macrame weaving, including: warping the loom using macrame knots, plain weave using a weaving sword and shed stick, creating texture, adding fringe/tassels, and finishing techniques.
We will be working with a variety of yarn and fibers: natural and hand dyed cotton, wool, jute rope, and raw alpaca fleece. All materials are provided, but please feel free to bring any yarn or other fiber you'd like to work with!
Students will leave with a beautiful wall hanging of their own design.
