Crewel Runnings Workshop
Learn crewel embroidery techniques!
Crewel is comprised of different stitches, which when used together, create a highly textured, three dimensional effect. Crewelwork came into vogue during the 18th century in Northern Europe, adorning everything from furniture to opulent garments.
There was a revival of interest in crewling in the mid 1960's through the early 1970's, especially in the Bay Area, with new styles that reflected the dawning of the Age of Aquarius. We at the shop, in turn, enjoy these glorious hippie rags a great deal today.
We invite you to join us for a creweling workshop, and please bring your modern point of view to this timeless craft with you. Our instructor, Michelle B. Haynes, has been crewelling since the age of six. Lady knows a thing or two about crewel.
The class will take place over two Sundays, March 18th & 25th, both from 5:00 pm - 8:00pm
Sliding scale workshop fee for instruction & materials: $50-$75 clams.
Class size is very limited so please R.S.V.P. to em@gravelandgold.com to secure a spot.
