Scent Laboratory

Jana Blankenship of Captain Blankenship will delve into the art of natural perfumery and the perfumer's palette. While smell is our first sense to develop, it is arguably our least cultivated. We have the power to identify over 10,000 different smells, so let's play. We will get our noses deep into essential oils and absolutes from Jasmine to seaweed and explore how to create simple oil and alcohol-based perfumes. We will explore how scent influences our other senses, the emotional impact of smell, and try to trace some of our scent-based memories. Everyone will leave with a vial of scent that they have concocted themselves.
