plainMADE sprung from the mud and mosses of Portland, OR, midwifed by a multi-disciplinary artist and teacher’s unruly imagination and overactive pair of hands.

Chelsea Heffner studied at the Hodgeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht, Netherlands and received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2005 and her MFA from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2009. All of her designs for plainMADE are knit, sewn, and silkscreened in small batches from her home studio. Each piece is a testament to Chelsea’s slow, thoughtful design, her attention to detail, and her commitment to craftsmanship.
