Open Up and Say Aaaah!: A Writer’s Workshop
Hey, guess what? We will be holding a writing class at Gravel & Gold! So…if you used to keep a journal but lost the key, if you were teacher’s pet in high school English but a computer geek in college, if you feel more creative than your 9 to 5 pays you to be, if your graphic novel-in-progress is all pictures and no speech bubbles, if you need to win back a lover with a kickass poem but don’t wanna rhyme “Seth” with “death”, if you have a story to tell but lack the motivation, inspiration, or discipline to get ‘er done, or if you’re not sure what it is you wanna say but you got those itchy typing fingers and a big old frog in yer throat…come down and join us!
Over the course of four weeks, we will work together at establishing writing habits that suit our lifestyles, and we’ll experiment with different forms, voices, and subject matters. We will set ourselves realistic writing goals, and let the support and accountability of a writing community give us the push we need. We will do writing exercises and share our work, giving each other honest, useful, and encouraging feedback. We’ll read and swoon (or roll our eyes) over work by established authors. And we’ll even have a few published guests stop by to provide some A’s to our FAQ’s about writing.
So we’re talking Sundays, starting the second week of July and on through to the first week of September, from 5 to 8pm. There is a sliding scale fee starting at $200. If you would like to attend, please drop Abby a line by emailing her at this address. No worries if you can’t make it every week; just give us a heads-up!
