8 IS A MAGIC NUMBER

...
THIS WEEK MARKS THE BIRTHDAY OF OUR DEAR SHOP!
...

Eight years ago G&G flung open its tiny doors.
Blessings to all you who have taken part in this adventure!

Gravel & Gold began in this sweet location on 18th and Treat Street.

(If you missed the real deal, time travel back to opening night with this capture on our Yelp Page). The OG Shop was a treasure chest of vintage- some gravel, some gold, all chosen with joy and care.

In 2009 the new and current location was found and renovated...

2011 marked the launch of the very first batch of Gravel & Gold Goods. Four styles- two tops, and two dresses.

..
Cassie McGettigan designed the first G&G print--Panda Face, which was screen printed by hand here in San Francisco.

Everything was sewn in-house, mostly by, or under the direction of,
Holly Samuelsen.

G&G participated in a residency at Gospel Flat Farm in Bolinas, California, where all pinned, ironed, sewed, and ironed some more with the help of wonderful volunteers. It was a limited edition every thang.. my how far we have come! (Although it is true that all of our goods are still produced in limited batches, and all made in California).

The much coveted BOOBS print, also by Cass, came into existence in 2012, and has been in continual production ever since

The Boobs print has stirred many lively conversations about which ones you have, which ones she has, breastfeeding, breast cancer survival, sex, bodies, rainbow spectrum modality, #freethenipple, the tides of feminism.

The past 8 years have been chock-full of collaborations with friends like Taylor Stitch (yes, that did include mens boobs shirts), Alite, Kathleen Whitaker, Rachel Kaye, KlibanRP MillerCaptain BlankenshipEMprint press, Sarah Kersten, Sarah Bright, Rainen KnechtGroup Partner and many more...

Workshops and celebrations in the shop have also been in abundance!
...

There was the Osborn/Woods Poster Show, Slide shows with Lloyd Khan (who is pictured above): ShelterTiny Homes, and Shelters IIIFolk Yeah! DJ Night!, Scott Lenhardt Art Party, Pansy Launch Party, Rachel's Sandal Making Workshops, Rachel Budde's Yoni Care Workshop....G&G was even a Josy Baker Bread pick up site before the days of the Mill, and continues to be a Eatwell Farms CSA pick-up location. This list goes on and on! (More inclusive list here).

Big love to all of you, near and far, who make up the Gravel & Gold community. Thank you for making, sharing, hanging and loving!
