Textile Historians delight! This sturdy 100% cotton seersucker was woven in Japan. The word Seersucker is an Anglicized version of the Persian phrase shir-o-shakar, or -"milk and sugar". The name speaks to the smooth and puckered stripes in the material, describing the two distinct textures of the fabric, the puckered areas like- sugar and the smooth stripes resembling milk- though in this case – is more towards salt and pepper, milk and cola, or pencil and paper.
