Each dish is made up of 25 hand cut pieces of glass. Those pieces are arranged and tacked together before firing. Like ceramics, they go through a two step kiln firing process. The first firing melts and fuses the individual glass pieces together. The second firing is to "slump" the glass into the desired shape.
