These mugs are part of Jan's Loop series of stoneware, which she throws on a wheel down in her Portola Valley studio. The size varies mug to mug, but they generally come in around 2" x 4" x 6". All are sturdy, comfortable to hold, and dishwasher safe.

Trevor Goosen is a fabricator and artist working in Seattle. He received his MFA in Print Media with a focus on sculpture from School of the Art Institute Chicago in 2015. Since moving from San Francisco, Trevor has been involved with SOIL Gallery, Pottery Northwest, and currently teaches sculpture at Cornish College of the Arts.

Each candlestick is handmade on the wheel and one of a kind featuring raw unglazed stoneware with varying degrees of browning from the kiln.

A handwoven textile treasure from the bay area's Action Weaver, Travis Meinolf.

Travis has been on our radar since our college days when he ruled the graduate textile department at CCA.

Since then he's been making blanks and other collaborative projects, weaving publicly, building looms and teaching weaving to adults and kiddos.

He lives in Lagunitas, CA with his family. 

This blanket is woven of cotton and wool.  It is two woven pieces sewn together to cover the entirety of a king size bed.

CFM is one of our fave local woman-owned-and-operated businesses. They are a storefront offering handmade watercolors and a line of letterpress watercolor paper goods all made in-house, alongside a curated selection of creative supplies. In 2019, we started collaborating on a special Holiday product, to come up with something that represents all that we care about: sustainability, creativity, process, and COLOR. And, The Artist Brush Roll was born!

Hand crafted and all uniquely splatter painted, these mugs are designed by ceramicist and sculptor Peter Shire and made by residents of the Echo Park neighborhood in Los Angeles. Shire founded the pottery in 1972 to create ceramics that were more reasonably priced than his gallery work, and named it after the L.A. neighborhood where he was raised.

The mugs are crafted in small series using a slab construction, hand-rolled style, then individually hand painted. This process creates a unique splatter pattern and color combination on every much rendering no two exactly alike. The splatter series was inspired by the paintings of Sam Francis and the ceramic construction techniques of Adrian Saxe, both artists who have lived and created in Los Angeles.

Hand-formed ceramic, and hand painted, each piece is unique. We cannot guarantee the exact look of your mug. But if you feel very strongly about a particular look, you can email us at dig@gravelandgold.

Tasting Notes - Honey, Caramel, Crème Brulée

A soft and smooth black tea with natural lingering sweetness. Golden Horse is a single pluck, spring tea from Yunnan Province. Picked in combination with bud and leaf, this tea yields more flavor than single bud teas. The leaves have a beautiful coppery color and infuse into an amber-hued liquor.

The year 2022 is year of the Tiger. The Chinese zodiac Tiger symbolizes strength, bravery and overpowering evil forces.
