    Nancy Pearce

Nancy Pearce creates bronze objects - some functional, some not - which she calls artifacts. The objects are made of solid bronze using a sand-casting method to create truly heirloom pieces meant to survive not only generations, but geological time. She makes some shapes by hand, like the candle holders and the furrowed bowls, but she is particularly interested in taking common items like a bagel, a tube of toothpaste, or a dish sponge, and casting them in highly polished semi-precious metal in order to see these common things elevated into art objects… creating trophies of the mundane. Originally from Utah, Pearce moved to Los Angeles to work in the Archives & Collections department of Universal Studios where she learned the art of creating a historical record.
