Gravel & Gold X The Long Confidence

We adore the creativity and craftsmanship of our friend Rafi Ajl for his design studio The Long Confidence.

His work is processed based, focused on making contemporary heirlooms driven by quality and curiosity. The furniture and objects he creates live gracefully in the home, becoming more beautiful over time. His products use a mixture of contemporary and traditional joinery methods designed for a lifetime of use.

We’ve been friends with Rafi for nearly a decade, and we finally got it together to team up for a formal collaboration.

Rafi used our print “Open Spaces” to upholster two of his chairs. The minimal and distinctive style of the Long Confidence furniture pairs beautifully with our unique print.

We developed a canvas utility bag, modeled after Rafi’s favorite tool tote, and elevated by some G&G styling and all brass hardware. It’s our new favorite take-everywhere-all-the-time tote-bag.

Elaines Chair

Elaine’s Chair is an easy sitting chair with a refined gestural nature. Available in our favorite sheep fleeces, or in a variety of leathers and textiles. Our upholstery is set on hand-tied springs, with a latex interior. We are happy to work with you to select the upholstery that matches your current style, experiment with something new, or work with your existing material palette. Our products use a mixture of contemporary and traditional joinery methods designed for a lifetime of use.

The Gathering Chair

The Gathering Chair is a study in geometry and form. We think of the wooden seat as our country style. A simple chair at first glance, it offers subtle details and refined moments. Our products use a mixture of contemporary and traditional joinery methods designed for a lifetime of use.

The Field Bag

The abundant exterior pockets mean anything you’ve got is at your fingertips. An internal pocket is well suited for reading material or a 13” laptop.

The wide flat bottom fits perfectly in a bike basket and the square structure makes the bag perch upright all on its own, ready for toting.

It functions brilliantly for the wildly varied purposes of a lunch bag, picnic basket, and grocery sack.

It has shorter handles for a quick grab-and-go, and an adjustable over-the-shoulder for longer hauls.
