is/was Tie I
Ian hand cuts each of these unique, handsome ties from antique textiles ranging from Japanese boro and dead stock cotton kimono fabrics to batik. All materials are vintage leftovers from larger garments, blankets and decorative pieces, allowing the textile to find new form and purpose. The ties are then sewn here in San Francisco.
We like them on both men and women, many of whom would not ordinarily bother with such formality. The fabrics Ian uses are generally thicker than ye olde tie silk, and so you get a bit heftier knot paired with a reasonably slim tie shape.
This one of a kind version is solid blue batik cotton.
