Since opening her business in 1963, Barbara’s techniques have stayed pretty much the same. She crafts a variety of simple, elegant leather sandals and belts, which she learned to make from Menalkas Duncan, who in turn learned sandal making while visiting Greece with his aunt, Isadora. If you find yourself in New York City, do not fail to go visit her leather shop in the East Village to get fit for your own pair of custom duds.
