A woven sculpture made of walking kelp and bull kelp, hand harvested on the northern California coast. Woven in Point Reyes, CA by Lina Prairie.
Approximately 7 inches across widest point and 9 inches tall
Making baskets or sculptures from kelp is a laborious process that involves cleaning and brushing seaweed in fresh water, then drying it out. It is then rehydrated before weaving, and once woven and formed, is left to dry in the sun for three to four days
* Please note that sculptures should be kept away from damp or moist areas.
