"I am Nut, and I have come so that I may enfold and protect you from all things evil."
-The Egyptian Book of the Dead
Nut, her body covered covered in stars, is the Egyptian sky goddess, the constant mother, friend and protector of the dead. She provides order to the cosmos out of chaos. In the beginning, she lay on top of the earth god Geb, continuously laying on him. From this union, she gave birth to Osiris, god of the afterlife, Isis, goddess of nature and magic, Set, god of chaos, and Nephythys, the home slice goddess. Her daily task is to ensure the safe passage of Ra, the sun god, swallowing him at dusk, passing him through her belly each night, and giving birth to him each morning.
Cassie McGettigan designed this card, "Nut. It's a nice card for a friend!
Emily Johnson printed these Nut cards and others with love and expertise on an OG letterpress at EMprint Press in Portland, Oregon. The size is 6" x 6" square. The recycled stock is heavyweight and a little bit toothy, with 25% cotton mixed in. The envelopes are 100% PCW recycled kraft paper.
