This coloring book celebrates the diversity of animals and the way our beautiful queer communities exist far beyond the realms of human culture. So many of us grew up with wildlife programs and school biology classes that never once mention these natural aspects of life on Earth. It was all ‘male meets female, seduces her with his bright feathers or funky dance and they very quickly mate.' The implication has always been that that the whole point of life is to make little baby animals and there was nothing in the great natural world that might challenge the cis-het norms of biologists. This entertaining and educational resource, created by trans woman and ecologist Otter Lieffe, and richly illustrated by Anja Van Geert, liberates this knowledge and helps free us all to express our true selves.

Zaracha is a traditional Japanese tea made from a leguminous plant called, Kawaraketsumei. The plant is cut at the foot, dried, and roasted. All the parts are used - stem, leaves, flowers and pods. Zaracha has been consumed since the Edo period, particularly in the region of Iwami. It's consumed at all times of day from morning to evening, and often with meals. The name Zaracha comes from the informal phrase "zara-zara" which means rough in Japanese, referring to the mineral character of the tea's taste. Sweet and slightly smoky, the flavor is reminiscent of Hojicha. 16-18 servings in 1oz Rice Paper Package.

CFM is one of our fave local woman-owned-and-operated businesses.They are a storefront offering handmade watercolors and a line of letterpress watercolor papergoods all made in-house, alongside a curated selection of creative supplies. In 2019, we started to talk about collaborating on a special Holiday product, to come up with something that represents all that we care about: sustainability, creativity, process, and COLOR. 

We were sitting on a fair amount of patterned fabric backstock that we didn’t want to go to waste, and wondered if we could come up with something to make from it. I think it was actually all of us who had the idea of a brush roll, and we immediately got so excited about this possibility! For Holiday 2019, CFM developed a custom water color palette to match each of our brush rolls and we included this palette along with everything one needs to get started with water coloring, in the brush roll. How special, right?!

The brush rolls were a rip roaring success so we've brought them back! This time sans supplies so you can fill them with whatever tools you've got.

We can't wait to see how you pack your rolls and the work you make with them.
