Peshtemals are a great alternative to the traditional towel because they are lighter, absorb water quicker and dry faster. They can be used at the beach, park, spa, as a bath towel or any place toweling is needed. These hand-woven and printed peshtemals, or Turkish bath towels, were made especially for Gravel & Gold by Kylea Borges.

Each piece measures approximately 39″ x 65″ with the traditional tassel ends. They are available in five different colors with a silk screened print measuring 55″ x 31.” Each towel has been carefully hand printed by the artist in a limited edition of 25. From the weaving of the towels to the printing and packaging, each step has placed emphasis on the process itself.

Cliff Glover throws these handsome footed mugs by hand in his studio up by the Mendocino coast. Their size and Rufus Rust glaze vary somewhat, reflecting the giant redwood trees growing all around Cliff’s place. Their common shape is comfortable and capacious, pleasingly rounded. Man hand-OK. The mugs are fired at a very high temperature, and are sturdy and practical for everyday use.

A simple, beautiful thing. Just a semi-sheer top with a lot of boobs on it. Our model here is not wearing a bra, but you can wear one and you’ll still look great! You’ll also look saucy wearing a tank top or a tank dress underneath.

One size, in a boxy shape with a wide neck and a straight hem that is easy to wear. Seems provocative, but you’ll find it’s actually a comfort choice. As usual, you can let the boobs do the talking for you.

Our Boob print was designed by Cassie McGettigan. It was hand printed in San Francisco in a dark cypress green color on a lightweight 63% silk / 37% wool blend fabric that is a warm white color. Each top is sewn right here in the shop by Holly Samuelsen. The shear fabric allows a proper appreciation of her fine French seams and silk-taped hems.

Our bucket bag was designed and made right here in the shop using heavyweight canvas and leather custom ordered from Horween, one of America’s oldest tanneries out of Chicago. Each one is sewn by our brilliant tailor-in-residence Holly Samuelsen and meets her exacting standards. A no hardware, no bling, no nonsense bag covered with lots of boobs.

Loosely inspired by the classic Bonnie Cashin purse that our moms carried in the 70s, its tapered shape provides for plenty of space while still allowing you to sling it over your shoulder or across your bod. A great bag for a biker. The 24 oz. canvas duck, though heavyweight, combined with the leather makes for a reasonably lightweight day to day bag.

The Bucket Bag has a flap pocket on the inside measuring 7″ x 5.5″ with a 2″ drop and plenty of space for a phone, chapstick, keys,  and other precious items. Also there’s a rolled leather button and loop closure to keep things safe inside.

The strap is a back-to-back double layer of supple, custom-dyed 4.5 oz Horween Chromexel leather, so it’s extra-thick and extra-burly. The bottom is leather, too. It is a very, very dark shade of green that basically reads as black. The very most lovely black.

As for the boobs! Yes, you’ve been awful patient. They are very dark cypress green boobs. Boobs of all shape and dimension! Boobs that seem to be having a wonderfully lively conversation—hurrah! The print was designed by Cassie McGettigan and hand printed here in San Francisco.

Holly Samuelsen designed and now sews our Boob Tote Bag right here in the shop using heavyweight canvas and leather custom ordered from Horween, one of America’s oldest tanneries out of Chicago.

Our Boob print, designed by Cassie McGettigan, has received quite a positive reception from men-folk who like boobs and wish to represent that affinity to the world by wearing them. This tote was designed with those guys in mind, but of course us ladies have been wearing it around with joy.

Basically, it’s a gussied up brown bag shape with a spacious open interior. No hardware, no pockets, no funny business. The upper portion is canvas and the lower sides and bottom, leather. The handles are sturdy, rolled leather and will fit comfortable under most arms.

All of the leather is supple, custom-dyed 4.5 oz. Horween Chromexel in a shade of extremely dark green that basically reads as black. Sometimes the direct sunlight will shine upon you and you will rejoice in its greenhood, but probably usually you’ll think it’s black.

As for all those fantastic boobs—yes, they certainly are boobs, and you can expect to be stopped often to confirm. And what a lovely stop. How lovely it is to talk about boobs all day, wherever you travel! These ones were hand printed here in San Francisco on 24 oz. canvas duck in a shade of dark cypress green.

Jana Blankenship mixes up these bath salts with a great deal of love, using only natural ingredients, which are local, wildcrafted and organic when possible.

The Orla Salts carry the refreshing Golden Queen scent—rose geranium, blood orange, and bergamot. These essential oils are mixed with Pacific sea salt and California organic almond oil for a major tubby time treat.

These classic bangle bracelets are hand-pounded by David Clarkson up in Point Reyes Station. They come in either 14k gold-fill or in sterling silver. And they come in three shapes: a twist, or pounded flat on two sides, or pounded flat on three sides (in the sarong pics, we’ve placed the twist at the top of the pyramid, the 2-sides option on the bottom left, and the 3-sides option on the bottom right). On account of all this pounding, all have light catching faceted sides.

Lovely on their own, especially lovely when stacked together or with bracelet friends, bonus lovely when stacked wrist to elbow. Lightweight enough to wear for a jog on the beach, no problem, and making always a marvelous twinkling sound that reminds us of aunties administering bath time.

These righteous moon goddess earrings do a nice job at passing for classic, lightweight gypsy hoops.

Laurel makes them one at a time using oxidized brass, which picks up all the lovely crater-like inclusions on the surface, and extra-long sterling silver earwires, so you just slide them on and squeeze the wire down–an elegant no closure closure. The brass will gain even more character over time, keeping its sweet warmth.

A vibrational, impressive vintage fire opal brooch. Sterling setting. And fire opal cabochons! Which are amazing and change color constantly, depending on the angle in which you behold them. Entertaining little buggers to photograph, even more enjoyable to wear. The pin is sturdy and would serve a coming together function well. The clasp has one of those circular drawbridge locks.

If you wear brooches already, this is the broach for you. If you have not yet broached the brooch, this is your time.

In 1973 I set out to do drawings of women’s genitals for use in sex education groups. I wanted the drawings to be lovely and informative, to give pleasure and affirmation.

I organized the drawings into a coloring book because a major way we learn to understand the world, as children, is by coloring. As adults many of us still need to learn about our external sexual anatomy. Coloring is a way for the child in each of us to revision and reclaim this portion of our bodies from which we have been estranged.

The Cunt Coloring Book, published in 1975, was immediately and wildly popular, although many people complained about the “awful” title. Three printings later, in 1981, the title was changed to Labiaflowers** and the book virtually died. So much for euphemisms.

Welcome once again to the Original Cunt Coloring Book (with a few additions). May you color it with pleasure.

It may smell good but when it comes to taste… The Pillsbury Dough boy certainly has a smooshy tummy and could use a cake tester. He looks awfully smooshy and gooshy.”

Come Alive! The Spirited Art of Sister Corita is a wonderful introduction to the work of nun, punk art predecessor, art teacher, activist, and printmaker Sister Corita Kent (1918-1986). Corita’s screenprints combined advertising slogans, poetry, Beatles lyrics, and Bible passages with swathes of bright, pop colors and layered cut-and-paste elements to make some of the most joyful and recognizable art of the 1960s.

Containing over 90 illustrations and one photo of Corita and other nun-sheroes making art that fills my heart to bursting.

Lila Rice makes these brushed metal disc earrings by hand, in either bright sterling silver, brass, or copper. And she makes them in three sizes: Small with a 1″ diameter, Medium with a 1.5″ diameter, and Large with a 2″ diameter. They close securely with sterling silver or 14k gold-fill earwires.

A real classic—simple, flattering, historically unplaceable, and they get better with age. Lila has been making them for quite some time, and she used to live in the Bay Area so her discs are particularly beloved by local ladies. She’s now in Brooklyn, so it seems only fair that her disc hoops are shared far and wide.

These 2″-wide brass disc hoops feature a triangular cut-out and a pleasant little crescent cut-out for your earlobe. Sturdy 14k gold-fill earwire and closure. A nice change up for the lovers of Lila’s classic Disc Hoops.

And now this version of 2″ brass disc hoops has more angular, open cut-outs. For the super rad of disc hoop lover and those concerned that whilst they have triangles covering every other aspect of their gear, they do not have enough triangles at the ready, at the ear. Has a sturdy 14k gold-fill earwire and closure.

These are another case of a pair of earrings that I had been dreaming of making for years and years, and then I found that Lila was already making them beautifully, so I was off the hook and they were in the shop, right away.

Here they are, in all their simplicity: crescent moon-shaped hoops with hammered detail. Available in sterling silver, brass, or copper. The silver and copper have sterling silver earwires and the brass have 14k gold-fill earwires (please note that the price goes up for the silver version). Big and beautiful, and sweet.

This baby powder is both talc and aluminum free and alternatively, uses the healing and absorbing powers of organic arrowroot starch and white kaolin clay to absorb moisture.

Marshmallow root is an herb used in many different herbal traditions around the world, from Native American to Ayurvedic medicine. Marshmallow root works to soothe by coating inflamed and irritated skin. Is taken internally to aid in the relief of sore throats. Marshmallow root is gentle and safe for use on the most sensitive of skin.

A necessary basic for a mama’s growing belly. Smells good, feels good, and helps to prevent stretchmarks. Also a lovely balm for any kind of body, pregnant or otherwise. Smells like dessert.

An amazing moisture absorbing, healing powder when dealing with yeast infections and other bacterial infections. This powder is talc free, including arrowroot starch because cornstarch can feed an infection.

Dust on with a brush you ONLY use for your yoni. Or you can top the jar with cheesecloth and a rubber band and sprinkle your way to vaginal comfort.

Inspired by Rosemary Gladstone’s recipe in her wonderful book, Herbal Healing for Women, and taught by Rachel at her Yoni Care Workshop at Gravel & Gold.

No need to attack our face with harsh chemicals which usually ends up making things worse for our skin and our environment. Better to hone in on the breakout and use the drawing properties that occur naturally in green clay. Witch hazel extract and tea tree aid as anti-bacterials. Apply to that pimple and let the mud dry. Then rinse off.

Pimple Mud will last a good long while. If it dries out, simply add some water.

I first learned about this recipe through my friend Adriana, who tweaked the recipe from Rosemary Gladstar—one of my medicine woman icons. From this lineage, I’ve experimented and created my own recipe for the BEST cream I have ever used. This is coming from a real product whore, I still have an embarrassingly large stash. I would buy creams and lotions for my face, for my body, for my feet etc and found they would work great at first, but would soon lose their luster (hence the stash). This cream is truly an “all” cream. I use it for my face and body and find a little goes a long way. A small dab is enough for my face. Love economy in products!

What makes this cream so great? I would say the perfect blend of hydrating and toning elements like aloe vera and rosewater, with moisturizers and skin protectors like organic sunflower oil and shea butter. The whipped consistency reminds me of cream cheese frosting, which doesn’t hurt.

This cream is best when used within 4 months of purchase, if you stick it in the fridge it will last twice as long. Fat and the Moon doesn’t dabble in chemicals that make things last forever.

This mud works great for poison oak, or any poison begot boil, including the kind from ivy, sumac, and baby bee. It offers a reprieve from the itching and helps draw out the nasty. Smooth over the rash and let dry, then rinse away that itch.
