One day Gravel was wandering through our old neck of the woods in search of the video transfer place when he came across a window with his name in glitter and neon stretched across the glass. He came into Gravel & Gold thinking that perhaps a long lost cousin had started a mysterious tiny enterprise, and who was this Gold character? We’ve been friends since.

Mark Andrew Gravel is an artist working with urban and agrarian foodways. His projects explore the interplay of food, identity and public space through temporary restaurant installation and visual art. As a part of his culinary practice, he presents bean-based, whole vegetable cookery in a range of restaurant, artist and agricultural spaces.
