Mark Andrew Gravel

San Francisco/NYC/Carolinas

One day Gravel was wandering through our old neck of the woods in search of the video transfer place when he came across a window with his name in glitter and neon stretched across the glass. He came into Gravel & Gold thinking that perhaps a long lost cousin had started a mysterious tiny enterprise, and who was this Gold character? We’ve been friends since.

Mark Andrew Gravel is a food activist/artist who runs Agrarian Art Lab. He publishes a collage art food magazine called Food + Sex and he helps out a great deal with Meatpaper, The Greenhorns, and Good Farm Movement. From coast to coast, if it’s secret cafés you’re after, you may come across him in San Francisco at Good Evening Thursday or Mission Street Food, as well as projects beyond SF, such as Supplement, The Black Banana, and The Spotted Rooster. If you find yourself peckish at an occasional Wednesday lunch hour, you may find him serving up beans at Gravel & Gold. Check in at Take Part to see if he’s got some magical fruit on the fire this week.
