Schubertiade

Saturday, November 19th

7pm - 8pm

Schubert at the Piano
Gustav Klimpt
1899 (destroyed by fire in 1945)

In the early 19th century, FRANZ PETER SCHUBERT (January 31, 1797 – November 19, 1797) arranged small gatherings to bring patrons and friends together for a night of musical enrichment which came to be called SCHUBERTIADES.

Historically, these evenings have been regarded with great importance, as they adjoined the intimate style of his music and the life which inspired him. In honor of this tradition, Dustin Senovic will be hosting a night of Schubert at GRAVEL & GOLD to provide a guided discussion on the composer, his life’s work, as well as a listening tour. In addition, small bites and refreshments in the Austrian fashion are to be enjoyed.

For those who would like to expand their understanding or interest in classical music, this will be an excellent opportunity to articulate one of the greatest influences of the early Romantic period. We invite all to join on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19th to celebrate the enterprise of this prolific artist and to honor the 183rd anniversary of his death.
