      San Francisco, California | Nile was one of the original trio of witchy Ladies who combined their efforts, style, and grooves to keep shop and create magic at Gravel & Gold. She is now a full-time registered nurse and homebirth midwife known to the community as Mama Lion.

      Nile grew up on Kauai with two fierce older brothers so don’t mess with her. She likes to tend bonfires on the beach. Catch her if you can at the shop or rolling around the Mission on her electric bicycle with her CanTainer keeping her buch cool and her boom box keeping the Thriller tape bumpin'.

      In addition to catching babies, flipping pancakes, and bossing awesome, Nilie has somehow managed to team up with Britt Govea of (((folkYEAH!))) to produce a record called Be Yourself, a tribute to her papa's first solo LP Songs for Beginners, from 1971. A group of admiring young artists, including Bonnie Prince Billy, Robin Pecknold (of Fleet Foxes), Brendan Benson (of The Raconteurs), Vetiver, Alela Diane, Sleepy Sun, Mariee Sioux & Greg Weeks (from Espers), Port O Brien with The Papercuts, The Moore Brothers, and Nile herself, cover the record start to finish.
