Bottle Opener

On September 18, 1924, Thomas C. Hamilton filed for patent No. 1,534,211, the wall mounted Bottle Cap Puller you see here. Brown Manufacturing began producing the openers in 1925, in the basement of their Newport News Coca-Cola bottling location. By 1936, Why!, the Newport News “Daily Press” was reporting that Brown was able to turn out 20,000 bottle openers a week, making it the  “largest single maker in the world of stationary bottle openers,” a claim the company still maintains.

It’s simple. A classic. Screws into your wall. Opens bottles. Impresses the ladies (such as myself).
