Hunter Gatherer(er)

Ashley Helvey is a felt artist whose work has been exhibited in galleries across the country and in Germany. Most recently, she contributed to the Cooper Hewitt International Design Museum’s exhibit Fashioning Felt and has begun working with the cooperative Le Famn Veret in Verettes, Haiti to develop a line of felted objects to provide jobs for local women. She also teaches workshops through institutions, museums, and galleries and collaborates with artists and designers on felted installations and performance pieces. Soon enough, we might just be lucky enough to host a workshop with her here at Gravel & Gold.

Ashley is working with her mom Hermine, a Los Angeles-based jeweler, to create the Hunter Gatherer(er) jewelry collection. After years of sending inspirational objects back and forth to one another in the post, they’re making treasures for all to enjoy.
