Postalco

16 July 2009
Cassie McGettigan

Postalco was created by a former New Yorker, originally a Los Angelino, by the name of Mike Abelson who now lives in Kyobashi, Tokyo. Back in 2000, Mike was working for Jack Spade in New York, and was thereby already absorbed with issues of functional, clean design, when he noticed that his partner Yuri had her papers all cramped up in her bag. It would not do. He invented the Legal Envelope Series for her—leather envelopes with metallic eyeletsas a comfortable means to port around documents that would weather well over time. The design was reached from the “carried paper’s” point of view, from whence comes all of Postalco with it’s trademark carrier pigeon and elegant solutions to paper needs.
