Anna von Hellens-Ravi

Anna grew up in Turku, Finland and met her husband from Chennai, India up in the air. She was working as an airline hostess at the time. It was love at first sight.

She moved to the US in 1968 and eventually became mama to the lovely Maya Ravi, who is also a jewelry maker with things in our shop. Anna began making jewelry about twelve years ago. Once when her mother-in-law was visiting from Chennai, she signed the two of them up for a pearl knotting course at the local beading shop. Discontent with stringing one basic pearl after another, Anna soon went rogue, throwing all kinds of gems and precious totems into the mix. Her beautiful jewelry combines the spare simplicity of good, traditional Finnish design with rare, antique components she picks up on her travels in India and a sense of balance and elegance all her own.
